Where the sea leaves an impression
Kai Enzo is a Japanese restaurant that combines the elegance of Japan with the vibrancy of the Mediterranean. As a high-end seafood restaurant, we used a traditional Japanese craft of fish printing called ‘gyotaku’ to create accurate, life-size fish impressions with a culinary twist. For the mark making, we used uninhibited brushstrokes to meticulously and resourcefully combine these two cultures into a single bilingual logo, which can be read in both the Latin and Japanese Hiragana alphabets.
The fish is carefully painted with kamei sumi ink; washi paper is placed over the top and brushed by hand with varying pressure where more or less detail is required.
Japanese bookbinding was used to create decorative patterns.
